Industrial Chemicals Ltd to deliver major investment and capacity uplift in its Ferric Sulphate and Polyaluminium Chloride coagulant production range

Press Release 27th November 2024 at 09:00am GMT

Ferric Sulphate Investment Programme:

ICL will be investing in additional capacity across its three UK Ferric Sulphate production sites. A rolling programme of investment will see production capability increase by over 100,000 tonnes per year within the next two years, to provide full coverage for its public utility customer base and their forecast demand growth required to meet environmental regulation.

The investment will include a modular addition of reaction capacity and supporting plant at all three sites using best-available-technology, as well as investment to enable production from multiple raw materials routes, providing enhanced sustainability and security of supply to our customers.

New Polyaluminium Chloride Plant:

ICL are investing over £20m in a new Polyaluminium Chloride production facility at its West Thurrock site. The new plant will double ICL’s production capacity to over 100,000 tonnes per year, and use state-of-the-art technology.

The investment will consolidate the supply chain for this key product to ICL’s major site, where key raw materials will be fed directly from the adjacent chlor-alkali plant, and brought in by ship over ICL’s own site jetty on the River Thames.

This major investment secures Polyaluminium Chloride supply to the water utility industry for the next twenty plus years and allows for significant growth in treatment requirements.
